Dear RoboCup SSL members, greetings
This year in Istanbul, we will have two technical challenges and one
demonstration, which ain at bringing new ideas and innovations into the Small
Size League. The challenge rules and full descriptions are in the league's wiki,
and are also summarized below.
We strongly encourage all teams to participate and help to advance the league.
Please notice the Mixed match and demo participation require teams to confirm
participation.
The committees also would like to stress the importance of preparing the team's
software for the challenges in advance, as to avoid last minute issues and
prejudice other teams. The committees recognize the short notice of the
announcement and will be at the disposal of the teams to answer any question
that may be of help in the preparation.
=== 2011 TECHNICAL CHALLENGES ====
1 – DYNAMIC NAVIGATION CHALLENGE:
The aim of this technical challenge, originally created for the IranOpen2011, is
to examine the ability of robots to safely navigate in a dynamic environment.
The challenge consists of 6 robots acting as obstacles, two stationary and four
moving back and forth along two straight lines on the field. The approximate
positions and trajectories are shown in the wiki, but be mindful that the acutal
positions may vary
Rules:
1.1) The maximum number of participating robots is limited to 3.
1.2) The participating robots must navigate between the two stationary obstacles
as shown in pictures.
1.3) Whenever a robot touches an obstacle or its teammate, it will receive a
penalty of -1.
1.4) Each successful navigation course scores, for each robot, +1.
1.5) Robots who completethe course carrying the ball score +3.
1.6) The duration of the challenge is 2 minutes.
2 – MIXED TEAM CHALLENGE
This is a full match between mixed teams, each composed of five robots
originating from two different SSL teams. One of the SSL teams must provide
three robots and the other must provide two. Each robot will be controlled by
its originating SSL team own software stack.
Rules
2.1) Teams who want to participate in this challenge must confirm its intention
to the OC until June 20th. The OC also urges teams who want to participate to
try to adjust their software before the match.
2.2) All SSL rules will apply normally;
2.3) The mixed team can swap which of the originating teams provides three and
which provides two robots;
2.4) SSL Teams composing the mixed teams will be luck drawn, randomly, at the
date of the competition;
2.5) The duration of the match will be defined at the competition venue
DEMONSTRATION OF LARGE FIELD (for mixed team challenge participants only)
A mixed match, similar to the Mixed Match Challenge, between 6 to 8 robots on
each side, where each SSL Team will provide half of the robots for the mixed
team. The field of play will consist of two official SSL-Fields joined as one,
with SSL-Vision operating with four cameras.
Rules
D.1) Teams who want to participate in this challenge must confirm its intention
to the OC until June 20th.
D.2) All rules of the Mixed Team Challenge apply
