[robocup-small] Proposed Rule Changes for SSL 2006

Hi,

I'm sorry, I accidently sent the draft for the mail to the List. :-)

here's our complete opinion, with a bit more text.


>INCREASE FIELD SIZE.
We would increase the Field size for 2007.


>RESTART RULES
This is a good idea. We should clarify the restart rules, especially the
penalty rules.


>OFFICIAL COLOURS
Having the option to use official colors wouldn't be a good Idea,
because teams are forced to make their markers right before the game
starts if the oponont team decides that they need official colors.
We should decide either to use official colors or the own colors as long
as they are blue and yellow.


>GOALS 
Adding a bar is needed, we just need something to keep the ball from
damaging the net.
Something else then just a net could be used, like wire or glass.


>BALL
>VIRTUAL ENERGY BUDGET
Competitions are fine. We would prefer the Teams to vote and not TC/OC


>PHYSICAL ENERGY BUDGET
No physical energy budget.


>INCREASE NUMBER OF ROBOTS
We would prefer proposal C, as long as the rule is a bit like the Mid
Size Rule and the player number ranges from 5 to 8, dependent on the
diameter.
An increase to 6 robots (proposal B) makes the field more crowded and
will lead to less passing.


>CHIP KICKING
We prefer B. 1.
A change in the free kick rules for indirect free kicks should lead to
better games even without chip kicks.


>LENGTH OF PERIODS / TIMEOUT / HALFTIME:
We support proposal A but would also support B if battery changing is
not allowed or some kind of energy budget is introduced.


>RED CARDS / SAFETY ENFORCEMENT:
We strongly support this idea, we believe the games would run more
fluently with this. 2 minutes of penalty should be enough.


>FREE KICK/KICKOFF PROCEDURE:
Having this rule will lead to less free kicks for accidently touching
the ball twice while positioning to do a Free Kick.
