[robocup-humanoid] robocup-humanoid Digest, Vol 100, Issue 14

Hello Mojtaba,

the weight of the robots is intentionally not included in the calculation
of the score for the push recovery challenge. Essentially, we are aiming to
absorb "pushes" that occur in a soccer game against humans and so we want
to evaluate a robot's push recovery on an absolute scale rather than on a
scale relative to its weight. Yes, heavier robots have better push recovery
capabilities. Lighter robots need less energy to locomote. If you build a
heavier robot to excel in the push recovery challenge, you will have more
difficulties with walking in the game. If you build a very light robot, your
passive disturbance rejection capabilities will be weaker. Weight and size
are both subject to a trade-off that has yet to be found.

Cheers,
Marcell
