Position will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining custom built solutions, as well as testing backend systems and tools for the company’s online service offerings. General Skills: • Understanding of the SDLC process. • Strong analytical skills. • Ability to work independently and drive tasks to completion. • Strong interpersonal skills in working with other developers and operational IT end users. Functional Skills: • Interpreting written application requirements and applying sound programming practices to developing backend tools and services for large volume online services. • Maintaining skills in state of the art internet application practices & applying them to projects when justified by their stability, productivity & cost effectiveness. • Participating as a team member in a formal development lifecycle and release control process. • Ability to lead a team when required, while still performing code development duties. Hello from Google! * *For those of you who were quick to register for Google I/O, we thank you for continuing to support our developer initiatives--this year's I/O is slated to be one of our best yet. For the rest of our developers, we weren’t kidding when we told you we <3 our developers. Starting Wednesday, March 16, we will be launching Last Call for Google I/O: A contest that spans 10 days, 10 developer challenges and 100 chances to win tickets to attend the now-sold-out Google I/O 2011. Here’s how it works. We will announce a new challenge on the contest site<https://sites.google.com/site/lastcallforio2011/Home>on select dates at either 9am or 4pm PDT, that will last for 24 hours each. There will be 10 days of challenges with 10 winners on each day, spanning the following developer products: March 16 - Android, 9:00 am March 17 - Chrome, 9:00 am March 18 - App Engine, 9:00 am March 21 - YouTube APIs, 9:00 am March 22 - Game Developers, 9:00 am March 23 - Google Maps / Geo, 4:00 pm March 24 - Commerce, 9:00 am March 25 - Developer Tools / GWT, 9:00 am March 28 - Accessibility, 4:00 pm March 29 - Google Apps / Enterprise, 4:00 pm Each of the challenges will focus on one of our developer products and has two rounds. Plan to be in front of your computers for the first half-hour that the challenge starts to complete a series of questions for Round I, which will qualify you for the main coding challenge in Round II. The deadline is THIS FRIDAY, March 11, 2011. ---- ---- WIE scholarships are awarded to female students majoring in electronics, engineering, computer science, information technology or related fields. Scholarships are awarded based on Academic Excellence as well as Financial Need, Community/School Involvement and Personal Achievement. Scholarships are paid to the Financial Aid Department of the educational institution. The monetary awards are intended to lower the student's financial aid balances when they exist. To be considered for this scholarship, you will need to submit: 1. A copy of your transcript 2. Financial Data (loan balances, other scholarships, etc.) 3. [UWAB] Help advertise for CoCaesar's!

Hey girls! I wanted to tell you that the professor invitations and flyers for CoCaesar's are now in W@CC's box across the room from CoC 351. If people could stop by and distribute the fliers throughout the College of Computing and Klaus (where they are allowed), that would be amazing. Additionally, if you signed up for a professor invitation, please come by and give it to a CS/CM professor of your choice. Remember that part of CoCaesar's is to give you a chance to talk to your professors outside of an academic context. We will be talking about further advertisements next meeting. In any case, please plan to attend and help out the day of CoCaesar's. We will need all of the help we can get to pull this off. Remember that it is next week. Be sure to tell all of your CS/CM friends to come and have some fun before spring break! We will have food, prizes, and lots of games for everyone. I had to cut the voting short due to a lack of submissions and we need to get started on advertising as soon as possible. I am sorry for any inconveniences but no one else had emailed me about wanting to submit a design. [UWAB] Reverse Career Fair for College of Computing Students!

Dear Students, You are invited to apply to the College of Computing Reverse Career Fair! In this career fair-style event, recruiters from the CoC's Corporate Affiliate Partners will walk around to students' tables and get to know students for the intent of internships, co-ops, full-time jobs, etc. Each student will be provided a single table where they will display a trifold posterboard and one other visual aid (laptop, monitor, another poster, etc.). After committing to participate, students must take part in a pre-screening process where they will be required to present themselves and their visual aids and be critiqued, prior to the actual event. The Reverse Career Fair event will take place on April 18 from 4-6pm in the Klaus Atrium. You must have at least 30 credit hours to apply, and if interested, you must complete the application by March 4 (next Friday) and commit to participation by Mar 14. Once the application is submitted, you will be emailed with details about the pre-screening.
