Subject: RE: Pearson Student Advisory Board - application

******
Earn $1,000 stipend, travel to Boston and other cities - all expenses
paid, gain valuable business experience with the leading education
publisher - Pearson (www.pearson.com <http://www.pearson.com/>
<http://www.pearson.com/> <http://www.pearson.com/> ), receive
complimentary copies of Pearson textbooks, and develop a wide network of
contacts by participating in the Pearson Student Advisory Board (PSAB)
program. Our overall PSAB goal is to establish a dialogue with ten
savvy, motivated college students around the country from June 2008 -
June 2009. During their term of service, PSAB members will experience
first-hand the inner workings of a global publishing business,
collaborate and brainstorm with other talented students, and network
with many of the top executives within Pearson.

Not only are we looking for the best and brightest, but those students
who are passionate about learning, want to make a difference through
their work, and care about helping other students achieve their
potential. We want to encourage computer science majors to apply.
Students must be either sophomores or juniors at the time of the
application and must submit the following: cover letter, resume, two
letters of recommendation from faculty or employer, and transcript of
courses and grades (official or unofficial). The application deadline
is February 15, 2008 and should be submitted to
teresa.chung at pearson.com. For more detailed information, go to
http://pearsonstudents.com/psab.shtml. Electronic submission of the
application is encouraged. Letters of recommendation should be sent
directly to teresa.chung at pearson.com and the subject line should read
"PSAB - student name." If the transcript is not available in an
electronic format, send it to my assistant at the address below.

Students can participate in the program while they are going to school.
The time commitment is anywhere between 0 - 5 hours a week.

Since projects vary year to year, here's what we are doing now. The
Board has been split into three committees: PR, Editorial, and
Marketing. We met as a group in Boston for 1 1/2 days where the
students interacted with Pearson executives to discuss issues in higher
education. Each committee was assigned to a special project and has
created a business plan. For example, the Editorial Committee is
creating a national website to enable college students to submit
photos/artwork to be used on the cover and inside of our books. The
Board members are also playing a critical role in shaping new products
and revisions of our textbooks. To complete their special assignments,
they have traveled to Boston, Denver, NYC, and San Francisco on
weekends, and summer and winter breaks. All in all, students have had
opportunities to develop their professional
