This thematic special issue in Paladyn, Journal of Behavioral Robotics<https://www.degruyter.com/view/j/pjbr> is devoted to the publication of high-quality research papers presented during the Workshop on Quality of Interaction in Socially Assistive Robotics (QISAR 2019)<https://sites.google.com/view/qisar-icsr19/home> at the International Conference on Social Robotics (ICSR-19<http://icsr2019.uc3m.es/index.html>), November 26-29, 2019, Madrid, Spain.

Contributions to the Special Issue may address (but are not limited) to the following aspects:

::  evaluation of human-robot interaction quality
::  static/dynamic factors affecting human-robot interaction quality
::  interaction modalities (verbal and non-verbal)
::  understandable and explainable robots
::  human factors affecting the quality of interaction in HRI
::  human-centered design
::  interaction dynamics in HRI
::  theories, models, methodologies, and tools for evaluating quality of interaction in HRI
::  objective measures for evaluating quality of interaction
::  human-in-the-loop approaches
::  engagement in socially assistive robots

Authors are requested to submit their full research papers, complying the general scope of the journal. The submitted papers will undergo the standard peer-review process before they can be accepted. Notification of acceptance will be communicated as we progress with the review process.

For an initial submission, the authors are strongly advised to upload their entire manuscript, including tables and figures, as a single PDF file.
All submissions to the Special Issue must be made electronically via online submission system Editorial Manager<http://www.editorialmanager.com/paladyn/>: http://www.editorialmanager.com/paladyn/
All manuscripts will undergo the standard peer-review process (single blind, at least two independent reviewers). When entering your submission via online submission system please choose the option "SI on QISAR 2019".

The DEADLINE for submissions is 31 JANUARY 2020, but individual papers will be reviewed and published online as they arrive.
