Why do we have to work on these additional research questions within the
framework of the regular competitions?

If so many people think the idea of pickup games is a good one (and we do
as well) then why don't we have some of these games in addition to the
11x11 and the regular competitions?

There will be some additional work, not least on a common communication
language and the like, but there may be people who want to work on that
stuff even at the cost of not spending so much time preparing for the
competitions (some of us might find that a more interesting thing to do
:-)
