Dear Teams,
Here are some final and important information for you before coming to the first set-up day tomorrow. I also attached you some first impressions from the competition hall.
*Fields*
The setup of the competition hall is almost completed. We will have three fields for Kid and TeenSize as well as one AdultSize field inside competition hall 2. There will be another Kid/TeenSize field in the entrance hall. This field has, as you can see, natural light conditions and all Kid and Teen Drop-In games will be played on this field. You need to take the escalators or lifts to reach this field when coming from the competition hall. There will be enough time left in the time schedule for you to move between your games downstairs and the drop-in games upstairs.
*Registration*
The registration process will start tomorrow at 8:00 am. If you have printed and signed the consent form (https://2019.robocup.org/downloads/RoboCup2019ConsentForm_20190531.docx) already, you will be able to receive your badge faster. Otherwise, you can receive blank forms and fill them out during the registration process.
*Team area*
The team area is located between the fields and the back wall of the competition hall. You will find the team tables labelled with your team name when you enter the hall tomorrow. The AdultSize teams are located close to the AdultSize fields, the TeenSize teams will be located in the middle and the KidSize teams towards the other end of the team area. IMPORTANT: The area between the tables closest to the back wall and the respective wall need to be kept empty! This is for security reasons as the emergence exits are located there. You cannot put any luggage, robots or any other item in this area. If we find any items there, they will be removed immediately.
Tables in the team area are quite close together and there won't be massive amounts of storage space per team. If you have luggage or large boxes that are empty after you unpacked in the competition hall tomorrow, please consider bringing them back to your hotel. You can also contact us at the OC table and we can help you to find storage room for them in a separate room in the competition hall. Let us all work together to keep the team area tidy.
All important information during the setup and competition days will be announced on the whiteboard close to the TC tables. Please check the whiteboards regularly for important updates.
*Food and Drinks*
The ICC Sydney have the sole catering rights to the venue. Therefore, no food or alcohol can be brought into the Halls. That means, unlike previous years, you will not be able to have large amounts of food stored in the team area or send one person to bring lunch for the entire team. You will, however, probably be able to bring a bottle of water or similar and some small food items to the team area. You are absolutely not allowed to use any microwave, fridge, coffee maker or kettle in the competition hall. So keep that in mind when packing for the competition tomorrow.
*Robot Inspection*
The robot inspection will take place on July 3rd from 9am onwards. You will find a sign-up sheet on the Whiteboard next to the OC table tomorrow. Please sign up for a timeslot and have your robots ready at the inspection side when it is your timeslot.
As we announced previously, this year all teams will be required to help out during the inspection process. You will find the schedule which team needs to send a volunteer with good knowledge of the rules to help out with the robot inspection process on the whiteboard as well. Please watch the relevant sections for the robot inspection from the referee training video as well before your timeslot: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZSOfX5TA5SI&feature=youtu.be
Please show up on time, otherwise your team will be penalized similar to not showing up for a regular referee duty.
*Drop-In games*
There will be ten Drop-In games played in KidSize and eight in Teen and AdultSize each. The teams playing together can now be found on the website: https://www.robocuphumanoid.org/hl-2019/drop-in-teams/
*Game Plan*
The Technical Committee proposes the following game setup for the different sub-leagues:
KidSize: Four Round Robin groups of four teams each -> Game of Sixteen -> Quarter Final -> Semi Final -> Final & 3rd place game
TeenSize: Two Round Robin groups of four teams each -> Quarter Final -> Semi Final -> Final & 3rd place game
AdultSize: One Round Robin group of five teams -> Semi Final -> Final & 3rd place game
The seeding will take place during the first team leader meeting on July 2nd.
*Team Leader Meeting*
The first team leader meeting will take place on July 2nd at 5pm. The exact location will be announced on the whiteboard at the OC table.
*Referee Training*
All teams are required to have one person knowledgeable of the rules to serve as a referee during the competition. The referee training which is mandatory for all people serving as referees will take place on July 3rd after the end of the robot inspection. The exact time will be announced on the whiteboard in the OC table.
*Test & Tag*
The electrical staff will come to test and tag all your electrical equipment during the setup days. You will be allowed to set up the equipment and use them before they are tagged. However, please work together with the electricians to get everything tagged as soon as they approach you in the team area and make sure all your equipment is tagged before the competition starts.
*Wi-Fi*
As always, I would like to remind you that teams may NOT set up their own wi-fi in the competition hall. If we find teams having a wi-fi running, their router will be confiscated.
I'm looking forward to seeing you all for the first set-up day tomorrow!
