Dear HL Teams,
dear Technical Committee,

here some feedback to the rules. We are very happy with the intendant rule changes for 2012. We would like to suggest a few details for the "Robot shape - Issue"

Robots should not have Parts sticking out.

No addition to the solid shaped Body should be allowed which is harmful for other robots or human referees/bot handlers.
The the robot should be be shaped near to human shapes.

And would like to comment on the Open Issues:

Open Issues:
I think it is a good idea to furthermore reduce human interaction during the game. Denying both teams access to the field and the robots will ensure this. In our case we are able to attach a handle so our robots could be handled by referees. Still we have concerns with other people handling our robots. We are not in favor nor against this rule changes.
Introducing 4vs4 Games is a necessary Step at some time, but doing so would have a few disadvantages. The entry and participation cost will increase. The field would get more crowded. Benefits of this rule would be do allow more complex behaviors, passing and defense strategies will evolve. But since in this year many games where not played with 6 robots in the field it might be better to first increase this. We don't think increasing the number of players without increasing the size of the field is good.
Reducing the foot size is a good next step.
We are in favor of removing the side poles in 2012. Most teams have a decent Localization to foster improvements removing the poles will help.

Regards,
Jan Carstensen
