Dear HL Teams,

To continue the discussion of the evolution of the rules
which we had in the team leader meeting on June 23, 2010, in Singapore
I am posting a summary from my notes.

Please send your comments and additions to this mailing list.

We should aim at finalizing the rule discussion for RoboCup 2011 in
Istanbul, by the end of 2010.

Best regards,
Oskar

Notes from team leader meeting on 2010/6/23:
-------------------------------------------
Layout of the field:

- Increase Teen/AdultSize Field
  	+ approx. 1.5 times / area doubling
 	+ 7:0:1 pro:con:abstains (only Teen/AdultSize teams)

- Removing poles
 	+ 2:14:2 majority against

- Aim for KidSize 5vs5 demo games on enlarged Teen/AdultSize Field.

- GC: increase penalty for manually started teams to 20 s
 	+ 4:12:3 majority against

- specify the maximum mesh size of the net

- Other ball for Teen/AdultSize
+ FIFA size 3 and 5 orange balls
 	teams need to check

- Other ball for KidSize?
 	+ other orange ball:
--> check with SPL about availability of their ball
 	+ white ball ?

- Number of players in TeenSize
+ increase to three: 1:5:6 (majority against)

Design of the robots
+ minimum height TeenSize: everyone who thinks
 		of attending TeenSize votes:
 		80cm: 3
 		90cm: 0
 		100cm: 6
 		abstains: 5
no majority for decreasing minimum hight TeenSize

+ foot size reduce from H^2/28 to H^2/30

 	+ robot body color:
 		aluminium frame

 		longterm goal: colored robot, brighter

 		teams for brighter color, white
 		8:5:1
but may have to color feet black

4.6.1 also you may not use team colors of the other team

+ size: later perhaps KidSize, TeenSize, Adultsize
heights could be increased all together

Technical challenge
+ TeenSize: double pass instead of footrace
 		5:0:0

+ Replacing one challenge by kicking high challenge
 		7:3:3

 	+ Remove throw-in for kicking high: 3
+ remov passing for kick high: 4
 	+ remove dribble: 2
 	+ abstains: 4

 	+ arbitrary ball challenge
 		pro: 7:1:6
everyone brings own ball, but gets own ball not

robot starts on center mark, ball selected by referee,
 		first touch it

 		balls should be introduced first?

--> Check with SPL how they did it earlier?

+ There are some concerns that more than 3 challenges
 		may cause lots of difficulties
(preparation of teams more time consuming,
more time for referee training needed, etc.).

Rules of the game
+ 10 goal difference mercy rule,
teams that score more than 10 goals, e.g. 11:1,
are counted only 10 goals for the round robin ranking
(the other team of course gets their goals counted)

 		For counting less received goals
 		5:0:9
 		p. 40

- Number of trophies for Teen & AdultSize,
 	depending on no. of teams
