Dear all:

Please let me summarize all suggestions so far and what would I make of it:
I follow here also the suggestions of Mr. Zimmer, except for the
referee box advantages, where I suggest to Oskar make the final
changes.

We are going to add the changes in the Rule book during this week, so
please let me know your suggestions ASAP. Our goal is to commit the
1st rule draft before christmas (2009) over the mailing list.

Don't send any changes in doc format. Currently we are working over tex sources.

Mike

New size class:
AdultSize I intent to set now the min height to 140 cm (please let me
know if anybody has a robot that could participate there)

TeenSize competitions:
1. Games 2-2
2. Technical Challenges identical to KidSize

AdultSize:
1. Dribble and Kick
2. Technical Challenges: footrace becomes AdultSize competition

Robot handler allowed on the field behind the robot; not interacting
with the robot's behavior

8.2.5:
->30s
I think that could be a compromise here

Below you find the suggestion to remove free kicks in the game, I
think that would simplify the rules. So I support this idea.

Zimmer's suggestions summary:

19.2 Part B: Obstacle Avoidance and Dribbling

REPLACE:

“Therefore, only gentle kicks of no more than 20cm distance are allowed.”

BY:

“Partial points are awarded for reaching the penalty area with at
least 7 kicks. Subsequently full points are awarded for reaching the
goal line with at least 10 kicks in total.”

RELPLACE:

“The teams are ranked by the time needed to complete the task.”

BY:

“The full points teams and the partial points teams are ranked by the
time needed to complete the task.”

ADD TO CHAPTER 12 Fouls and Misconduct:

Removal Penalties

Time penalties of 30 seconds for field players and 0 seconds for the
goalie inside its goal area are called. When a penalty is called, the
designated robot handler has to remove the robot as soon as possible
and by that interacting as little as possible with the game.
A penalty is not called, if the punished team would take advantage of
the removal e.g. if a robot blocks a teammate kick the ball towards
the goal.
A robot suffering a penalty (except called for inactivity or service)
may not be serviced. A robot suffering a penalty due to a violation
e.g. physical contact has to stay out of play for a minimum of 60
seconds if serviced during the penalty time.
The referee team is in charge of timing the penalties and notifying
the teams to put back their robots to play.
A field player suffering a time penalty will be removed from the field
and has to re-enter the field after penalty time from the center of
the one of the two touch lines which is further away from the current
ball position.

ADD TO CHAPTER 12.1 and 12.2:

12.1 Ball Manipulation

5. If a robot player commits a ball holding, it will be punished by a
30 seconds removal penalty
6. If a robot player repeatedly infringes the ball holding rule, a
yellow card will be shown.
7. If a robot player deliberately uses hands, arms or shoulders to
play the ball, a yellow card will be shown and a 30 seconds penalty
will be called. The ball will be replaced to the point where the
incident took place if the punished team will not take advantage from
the replacement.

12.2 Physical Contact

4. If entangled robots fail to untangle themselves, the referee might
ask designated robot handlers of both teams to untangle the robots.
Untangling must not make significant changes to robot positions or
heading directions. Untangled robots must be laid on the ground not
closer than 50cm to the ball and in a way not gaining an advantage.
5. Robots violating these rules are punished by a 30 seconds removal penalty.
6. Robots repeatedly violating these rules are also shown a yellow card.
7. A robot deliberately causing physical contact (e.g. making an
opponent fall) will be shown a yellow or even a red card in cases of
outraging unsportsmanlike conducts.

DELETE:

Chapter 12.4 Indirect Free Kick
Chapter 13 Free Kicks

Note:

Chapter 14 Penalty Kick is not to be changed.
Please see the changes of Chapter 12 in the Word Document. There are
some more formulations for Goal Keeper and Leaving field.
