Dear Members of the RoboCup Humanoid League,
A recent rule draft for 2009 has just been uploaded
to the league's web page
http://www.tzi.de/humanoid (under "Downloads").
Vision
------
The rules in Sect. 4.3 regarding vision have been mainly
changed back to the rules of 2008 because
the TC has recognized that the intended step towards
more human like vision might handicap teams which
would have to re-design their vision system
only a few months before the competitions.
In 2008 the Humanoid League has undertaken a first large step towards more
human like vision by restricting the field of view to 180 degrees.
For 2010 the TC would like to improve the rules further towards "human
like vision" with one or two "eyes" in a way that takes into
account the number of cameras, their individual lines of sight and fields
of view.
This intended change of rule for 2010 shall be discussed with
other possible changes in detail in a team leader meeting during RoboCup
2009 in Graz.
Deadline
--------
As several local competitions (German Open, Iran Open, Japan Open) will
be held in April and May we would like to close the rule discussion on
*** February 28, 2009 ***.
Therefore we would like to ask you to post any comments, questions
or proposals to the rule draft for 2009 ***as soon as possible***.
The TC would especially obtain feedback to the newly proposed technical
challenges including the two alternatives propsed for part A.
Thank you very much for your cooperation.
With best regards,
Oskar von Stryk
(On behalf of the Technical Committee)
