Hi,

we usually bring our robots in checked luggage. This has worked for us in
the past, but there are no guarantees. Especillay when traveling through the
states.

I don't think anybody knows the rules, since they depend on the TSA, the
airline, US customs, and your own countries custom and are left open to
interpretation by the person doing the checking.

This is getting more difficult because checked in luggage is now limited to
20kg total on Air Canada and many other US carries on national flights and
this limit is enforced. You may be charged excess baggage.

My best advice is to arrive early at the airport since in my experience the
ground staff is not stressed out yet and you may be able to negotiate if
there are any problems.

Also, be advised that you should declare the robots to US customs on arrival
and when leaving. I think the Robocup website will have more details on
this.

US immigration will take time too, and especially when you connect through
Miami, I would allow for extra time to make the connecting flight.

CU,
   Jacky
