Hello Eamon,

First, I would look through the mailing list archives to see what else
has been written about the MATLAB bindings (and other projects):

https://mailman.cc.gatech.edu/pipermail/mlpack/

Then, I would take a look through the existing MATLAB code to get
yourself familiar with how the bindings work and how exactly you will
end up doing the project, should it be accepted.  There are also many
useful resources available on the wiki pages on Trac:
