Hey everyone! We got kicked out of our usual room and will be holding our weekly meeting (at 6:30) in room 347. We had a very last minute cancellation by our guest speaker so our plan for tonight is to check out the top ten HackGT projects, hear about everyone's experiences if they went, and update our page on the new website. Who's the "Career Fair"est of them all? 9/14/2015 Mirror, mirror, on the wall... *job offer slowly appears* It's officially the week of the Career Fair , which means companies have representatives all over campus holding events, interviewing students, and doing whatever other mysterious things recruiters do. We've had sev eral companies reach out t o W@CC in particular. Here are two events you don't want to miss! See you guys (gals? ladies? y'all?) there! W@CC will NOT (I repeat, NOT) be meeting this week, nor will any other CoC orgs. All meetings are cancelled due to the career fair. The College of Computing has asked us to gauge the interest in attending Technica the first all-ladies hackathon coming to the University of Maryland November 7 - 8th. Please fill out this form if this interests you. Before we start, I would like to clarify that I know the subject line will not compile in... Probably any language? Even with the necessary variables defined and typed. If you can think of a way it would, let me know because now I'm curious. That being said, we have some AMAZING events planned tomorrow with one of our favorite CAP partners, Google!¡! Here are the deets: "Ask Me Anything" Lunch: 11:00-1:00 in CCB 345 (third floor of the CoC) Imposter Syndrome Talk/Googler Panel: 6:00-8:00 in Van Leer W200 These events will be a great chance to chat with some Googlers, hear about some of their experiences as women in tech, and ask them... well, anything! Both events will have food and quite possibly some swag :) Hope to see you all there! ~Andrea PS. The Imposter Syndrome Talk date is not a typo, there was a bit of miscommunication and I was under the impression the talk was scheduled for Tuesday. So sorry for any confusion this may have caused.

Reminder: 2015 Grace Hopper Celebration Student Travel Scholarship Now Open!

The Office of Outreach, Enrollment and Community (OEC) is happy to announce that the 2015 Grace Hopper Celebration Student Travel Scholarship Application is now open! The 2015 Grace Hopper Celebration of Women in Computing will take place October 14-16, 2015 in Houston, TX. Scholarships provided by the Office of Outreach, Enrollment, and Community will include: conference registration, hotel, round-trip flight (departing on Tuesday, October 13th and returning on Saturday, October 17th), and some meals. Please complete the application (in its entirety) by Sunday, August 30th 11:59pm(EST) to be eligible for a scholarship for the 2015 Grace Hopper Celebration of Women in Computing. https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/2015_GHC_Student_Scholarship There are a limited number of scholarships to offer, and decisions will be made no later than Wednesday, September 2nd. Hey everyone! Hope your semesters are off to a great start. As some of you may know, the first meetings for all CoC orgs are happening tomorrow (Tuesday, 8/25). W@CC specifically will be meeting at 6:30 in CCB 340. This meeting will be mostly about logistics, introductions, getting feedback from returning W@CC members and suggestions from all. Our first events with corporate sponsors start next week, so if you can't make it tomorrow, don't worry about it! We'll keep you guys posted, and *hopefully* by the end of this weekend, we'll get the website and everything else up to date. Students Needed for Accepted Student Event on Monday

Hi All, I have another request. We are looking for about 10-15 current students to help out with a group of about 50 accepted students on Monday, April 13th at noon in Klaus 1116. We will be providing lunch, and you will be helping them think through a thought based "hack". We were asked to give them something hands on to do, so we have decided to have each group of 3-4 admitted students and their current student team captain think of a project to solve a problem being faced by current college students. During this time, you'll also be sharing your experience as a student to help them make their final decision. Please let me know if you're available.
