Dear Students,

Would you like a flexible part-time job that pays you to help introduce students
to computing?  Do you have at least 5 hours a week (most weeks) that you can work?  I am looking to hire Computer Science or Computational Media majors who are responsible and outgoing to help us change attitudes about computing.

As you know there are not enough women, African Americans, or Hispanics in
computing and the Institute for Computing Education (ICE) is trying to battle
the negative stereotypes about computing by holding computing workshops with
the Girl Scouts, YWCA, Cool Girls, Boys and Girls Clubs, and more.  Last year
over 1600 girls got some introduction to computing with us.  Our evaluation
efforts show that even with a 4-hour workshop we can change girl's attitudes
towards computing in a positive way.

We have found that PicoCrickets, which are an arts and crafts kit for the digital
age, result in the highest number of statistically significant changes in
attitudes towards computing.  We also use Scratch, Alice, and LEGO Mindstorms
robot kits in our workshops.  We are also planning workshops with wearable
computers, scribbler robots, and web development.

We pay for the time it takes to learn how to run the workshops, set-up time,
clean-up time, and any travel time.   We pay between $10 and $18 an hour,
depending on what year of school (by hours) you are in.  We are most in need of
people who can drive and can work from 3:30pm - 6:30pm.  But, we also have
workshops at Georgia Tech on Saturdays and Sundays from 10am - 2pm.
