Dear colleague,

I am writing to you to let you know that Robotics is currently running a
Special Issue entitled "Soft Robotics: Fusing Function with Structure".

Prof. Dr. Kaspar Althoefer, Dr. Hareesh Godaba and Dr. Ahmad Ataka from
Queen Mary University of London are serving as Guest Editors for this
issue.

The advent of soft material technologies in robotics has brought about
many distinct advantages, and has brought forward many interesting
applications for soft robots, in areas such as surgical robotics,
extreme environments, and logistics and material handling. Despite these
rapid developments, many challenges that are key to the widespread
adoption and efficient utilization of novel soft material technologies
are still outstanding. One challenge that lies at the core of this field
is the fusion and integration of different functions within the soft
robot body. This Special Issue aims to serve as a focal point towards
addressing this.

For a list of topics of interest and further information, please follow
the link to the Special Issue’s website at:
https://www.mdpi.com/si/robotics/soft-robotics

We would like to invite you to submit a paper, both comprehensive review
and original article are welcome.

The submission deadline is 31 December 2020. You may send your
manuscript in now, or at any time up until the deadline. A special
discount on this charge will be given to manuscripts submitted before
the submission deadline.

Submitted papers should not be under consideration for publication
elsewhere. We also encourage authors to send a short abstract or
tentative title to the Editorial Office in advance (robotics at mdpi.com).

Robotics is fully open access. An open access (unlimited and free access
by readers) format increases publicity and promotes more frequent
citations, as indicated by several studies. Open access is supported by
the authors and their institutes. An article processing charge (APC) of
CHF 1000 currently applies to all accepted papers.

You may be entitled to a discount if you have previously received a
discount code, or if your institute is participating in the MDPI
Institutional Open Access Program (IOAP); for more information, please see:
http://www.mdpi.com/about/ioap.

For further details on the submission process, please see the
instructions for authors on the journal’s website:
We look forward to hearing from you.

Best regards,
Linda Wang
Managing Editor
