Application is open for a Research Engineer to work during 12 months at Instituto Superior Técnico on the implementation and testing of Autonomous Mobile Robots (AMR) localization algorithms combining odometry, on-board laser range finders, and reflective landmarks installed Ion the scenario. Opportunity to work with a real mobile robot with a payload up to 30 tons, and equipped with SICK laser range finders. There is also the opportunity to travel to China to perform experimental tests of the implemented algorithm in a real test facility. The results of this application will provide and important contribution in the remote handling activities of the ambitious International Thermonuclear Experimental Reactor (ITER - https://www.iter.org/).

The research will be conducted at IPFN (https://www.ipfn.tecnico.ulisboa.pt/) and at Institute for Systems and Robotics (ISR-Lisboa, http://www.isr.tecnico.ulisboa.pt/), at IST Alameda campus. These organizations have been actively contributing to the ITER project over more than a decade, under the support of multiple funded grants.

The value of the grant is 745 euros per month, with the possibility of extension according to the qualification, knowledge and expertise of the candidate.
