for a research and teaching job at a university the following opening
of a full professorship may be of interest:

Bonn-Rhein-Sieg University of Applied Sciences (BRSU) is a highly dynamic
university with a bustling international community and a strong research
orientation. Located in the center of the livable Rhine area. 9000 young
students from around 100 nations study in 33 different academic programs,
several of which are taught in English.
The Computer Science Department at Bonn-Rhein-Sieg University, located at
its Sankt Augustin campus, together with the Bonn-Aachen International
Center for Information Technology (b-it) is seeking to fill a fully
tenured position (W2) as
Professor of Computer Science
with specialization in
Robotics and Autonomous Systems, and Safety and Security of such systems.
The position is to be filled as soon as possible.
The Computer Science Department offers Bachelor and Master programs in
Computer Science and Business Informatics as well as an international
Master program in Autonomous Systems. Teaching activities are complemented
with prosperous research and development activities, including significant
third-party funding, amongst other and foremost in the areas autonomous
systems, robotics, and the safety and security of such systems. Located in
a dynamic, innovation-oriented science and technology region, the department
offers excellent opportunities via this professorship to contribute the
applicant's own interests and work to the research and teaching activities
of the university.
We are seeking a person with comprehensive knowledge and experience,
especially in one or more of the areas human-robot interaction, collaborative
robotics, assisted living, robust autonomy, and safety and security of robots.
Successful applicants are expected to represent these topics in teaching,
research, and application-oriented development, to possess research experience
and a good international network of contacts in these areas, proven by
participation in national and international projects, subject-related work and
cooperation on national and international level, talks at international
conferences, and publications in highly-reputable journals.
The successful applicant is expected to take responsibility for the following
tasks:
− Teaching of basic and advanced courses in English and German in Bachelor
and Master programs of the Computer Science Department, especially
Master-level courses in English in the field of robotics, autonomous systems
and their safety and security.
− Contributing to the development and advancement of our study programs and
innovative teaching methods and approaches, in particular in the area of
robotics and autonomous systems.
− Planning and execution of application-oriented research and development
projects, including participation in proposal writing for the acquisition
of third-party funding.
− Supporting our international and interdisciplinary cooperation with companies
and organisations as well as other departments, universities, and scientific
institutions.
− Actively collaborating and taking over functions in our academic self-government,
e.g. functions in committees on the departmental or university level.
Required employment qualifications are regulated in § 36 of the University Law
of the State of North Rhine-Westphalia (Hochschulgesetz NRW). In addition, the
following qualifications are desirable:
− Teaching experience at universities or comparable institutions, in particular
experience in advising Bachelor- and Master-level students.
− Experience in the management of international research projects.
− Experience in the acquisition, setup and execution of internally- as well as
externally-funded research and development projects.
− Willingness to take an active role in the further development of the university
and its departments.
Pertinent industrial experience in the areas of interest is required. The position
to be filled is endowed in the W2 group of BBesO W. Additional remuneration is
subject to negotiation, e.g. as appointment bonus or based on special achievements.
The position is suitable for job-sharing/part-time work.
