Dear Sara,

thanks for your inquiry.
The situation is a bit different than your interpretation.
The trustees accepted two standard platforms.
From 2017 onwards and the time being, @Home will have three subleagues
- one each for each of the two standard platforms
- one "open" subleague which continues the @Home league we had so far.
It is not fully clear that how participation in terms of number of teams
in each of the subleagues will develop, but I would expect a higher
number of teams participating overall, in 2018 maybe between 30 and 60 overall.
The consequence for you could be that the number of @Home arenas may
have to be increased, from currently two to maybe three or four.

Best regards,
Gerhard

It just came to our attention from the RoboCup.org website that the new @Home standard platform robot would be Softbanks Pepper. http://www.robocup.org/2016/07/toyota-and-softbank-robotics-are-selected-for-home-standard-platform/ It states that the first demonstration will be in Nagoya 2017.
