CALL FOR PARTICIPATION
Ordinary registrations close end of July!

The IEEE-RAS Response Robotics Summer School and Workshop is a hands-on
event for early career researchers, graduate research students, final
year undergraduate students, educators in science, engineering and
design, and those in the wider community with an interest in learning
about applied intelligent robotics.

This intensive four-day educational and development summer school has
been established by members of the response robotics research community,
including members of the Organising Committee of the International
RoboCupRescue Robot League, to better address the rapidly growing need
for effective robotic solutions in emergency response scenarios. The
continuation of the highly successful Rescue Robotics Camps that started
in Rome in 2004 and have since been held all around the world, it will
consist of single tracked lectures and multi-tracked, focused, hands-on
practical sessions lead by world class researchers, developers and
responders. It will conclude with an interactive poster presentation
session where attendees will have the opportunity to present their own work.

It will focus on the challenges and Best-in-Class solutions for response
robotics, including advanced mobility, mobile manipulation, advanced
perception and decision making, drawn from both the RoboCupRescue Robot
League as well as the wider research community. The DHS-NIST-ASTM
International Standard Test Methods for Response Robots will be used as
a common language to link the research community with the real life
challenges in the field and the capabilities of currently deployed
robots. It will feature the Open Academic Robot Kit, a
community-developed family of robot designs that leverage recent
advances in 3D printing to lower the barrier of entry for groups working
in this field.

This event will be hosted by Curtin University and the Perth
Artifactory, with the financial support of the IEEE Robotics and
Automation Society (RAS) Technical Education Program. It will be run in
close collaboration with the US Department of Commerce National
Institute of Standards and Technology, the RoboCupRescue Robot League,
the Western Australia Police Bomb Response Unit and Robolit LLC.

Please visit the website at http://www.responserobotics.org/ and send
email to info at responserobotics.org if you have any further questions or
if you would like to be added to the low volume announcements mailing list.

REGISTRATION:

We are now accepting registrations! Please visit
http://registration.responserobotics.org/ for more information. Note
that space is limited. We will begin assigning spots to applicants in
June and ordinary registrations close in July so please apply early!

INTERACTIVE POSTER SESSION:

There will be a limited number of places available for attendees to
present their work at an interactive poster session at the conclusion of
the event. Presentations will be selected by the Organising Committee on
the basis of an abstract, to be submitted at the time of registration.
Please see the registration page for details.

TRAVEL SUPPORT:

In order to provide students from all over the world with the
opportunity to participate in this event, the Organising Committee, with
support from the IEEE-RAS, will be awarding a small number of
competitive travel support scholarships to IEEE-RAS student members.
Please see the registration page for the details.

We look forward to seeing you in Perth!
