May 14-15, 2014
Espinho, Portugal

Sponsored by:
- IEEE Robotics and Automation Society
- Portuguese Robotics Society

The IEEE International Conference on Autonomous Robot Systems and
Competitions is an international scientific meeting in the field of
autonomous robotics and related areas, which will take place in conjunction
with the 14th Portuguese Robotics Open, a RoboCup Local Event.
The conference will be held in Espinho, Portugal, on May 14-15, 2014.
Espinho is a very pleasant coastal village with a Mediterranean climate,
15km south from Porto, Portugal. It has very good connections by airport,
railways and highways.

The conference has been growing continuously for the past decade and is
nowadays a truly international forum attracting quality research papers
from worldwide. Its technical program is the result of a thorough review
process. Due to its growing prestige and impact, the conference is now
an IEEE conference with proceedings indexed in IEEExplore and in Scopus.
The conference has confirmed a **Special Issue of selected extended papers
in the Journal of Intelligent & Robotic Systems** from Springer,
indexed by the Thomson ISI Web of Knowledge (IF=0.83).

== Submission Guidelines ==

Submission Guidelines

Authors are invited to submit original research contributions in English.
Authors should submit their papers electronically in PDF format via EasyChair:

Six pages in the standard IEEE format are allowed for each paper, including
figures. Papers must be written in English following the standard IEEE
guidelines.

Reviewing for Robotica 2014 will be *double blind* so authors must remove
their names from the submitted papers and should take reasonable care not
to indirectly disclose their identity. Three program committee members will
be assigned to review each paper. Acceptance will be based on the paper's
significance, technical quality, clarity, relevance and originality.

All accepted papers will be published in the Conference Proceedings which
will be indexed in IEEExplore and Scopus.
Selected, extended papers will be published in a Special Issue from the
Journal of Intelligent & Robotic Systems from Springer, indexed by
Thomson ISI Web of Knowledge (IF=0.83).

Accepted papers will be scheduled for presentation, which requires that at
least one of the authors should register at the Conference and present the
paper.

== Invited Speaker ==

The conference will have as invited speaker Prof. Dr. Marco Dorigo,
Université Libre de Bruxelles.
The subject of the keynote presentation is
"The Swarm-bots and Swarmanoid Experiments in Swarm Robotics".

Welcome and look forward to seeing you in Robotica 2014 / ICARSC!

Kind Regards,

Nuno Lau, Universidade de Aveiro, Portugal
António Paulo Moreira, University of Porto, Portugal
Rodrigo Ventura, University of Lisbon, Portugal
Brígida Mónica Faria, Polytechnic Institute of Porto, Portugal
