EURON CRSIG/RoboCup Workshop on Cooperative Robotics Challenges
Organizers:
Pedro Lima, Institute for Systems and Robotics, Instituto Superior Técnico (ISR/IST)
Alessandro Saffiotti, Örebro University
Date: 11 March 2010, 9:45

Europe is strengthening its world position in Robotics R&D. It leads in one particular area, that of cooperative multirobot systems. This was the topic of one of the first EURON SIGs, and has been one of the most active so far (http://www.aass.oru.se/Agora/EuronCoop/). In parallel, European researchers are among the most active and successful in RoboCup scientific competitions (http://www.robocup.org). Cooperative Robotics has witnessed impressive advances in recent years, some of them with potential for applications of social and/or economical impact.

This workshop brings a set of invited speakers covering the 3 major RoboCup leagues (Soccer, Rescue and @Home) as well as other fields where vibrant R&D is ongoing in Europe: Swarm Robotics and Networked Robot Systems. The link among all these fields is that they cover multirobot cooperation or human-robot cooperation. The purpose of the talks is to show that the research developed in these fields is beneficial to industry and fosters cooperation with universities in joint R&D projects.

The workshop will take place on March 11, the EURON/EUROP day of the EURON/EUROP2010 Annual Meeting, in San Sebastian, Spain. It will be held in coordination with the SRA Workshop on Grand Challenges, promoted by the new FP7 CA EuRobotics, thus opening further opportunities to promote liaisons between university and industry people.

More details at http://www.euron-europ-2010.eu/en/programme.

All are invited to attend.
