Dear 3D Simulation teams,

Here you will find pre-registration and qualification information for
the 3D Simulation Competition.

The schedule is as following:
- Pre-registration: February 1st, 2009 (midnight EST).
- Qualification: February 13th, 2009 (midnight EST).
- Qualified teams will be announced: March 1st.

Pre Registration

The pre-registration deadline is at February 1st, 2009 (midnight EST) .

To pre-register please send an e-mail to mart.vd.sanden at gmail.com with
the subject 'Pre-Registration TEAM_NAME'. The e-mail should contain
the following information:

Qualification

The qualification process this year is similar to the one of last
year. Qualification is based on teams' current performance, previous
achievements in RoboCup, and scientific contributions to the RoboCup
community in past years, cooperation in the 3D mailing list and
development of spark simulator.

In RoboCup 2009, up to 28 teams will participate in 3D competitions.
Top three teams from RoboCup 2008 ( SEU, WrightEagle and the Little
Green BATS) are automatically qualified after pre-registrating their
teams and submitting an appropriate Team Description Paper (TDP). The
other 25 teams will be selected through a qualification process. The
OC does not accept qualification materials from teams who have not
been pre-registered by the pre-registration deadline.

The following is a guide for qualification process:

Deadline
The deadline for submitting qualification materials is on February
13th, 2009 (midnight EST) .

Qualification Material:

* Team Description Paper
The TDP should describe your research focus and ideas implemented in
the team. The length of the TDP has to be at least four (4) pages and
should not exceed twelve (12) pages in Springer LNCS Style. Please
submit the TDP only as a PDF document with the name of your team like
teamname_TDP.pdf.

* A list of contributions to previous RoboCup Symposiums and your
team's achievements in RoboCup events of previous years. A list of
contributions to previous RoboCup Symposium. Please do not include
TDPs that you submitted to RoboCup in previous years. You may include
a TDP, if you presented a talk about your team at the Symposium.
Please submit the contribution list as a PDF document with the name of
your team like teamname_list.pdf.

* A Logfile of the team's play against The Little Green Bats 2009 who
won third place in Suzhou. A binary of The Little Green Bats and other
teams are available at the link below. Please submit the logfile with
the name teamname_vs_bats.log.

Games should be one 5 minute half starting with your team's kick_off.
Rules for the qualification game and the simulator version should be
similar to those used in China. The last official release of spark
simulator, rcssserver3d-0.6, will be used as simulator for
qualification.

If there happens server failure, especially ODE collisions which
disturbs agent's movement, please restart the game and start a new
game.

Please put all qualification material in a folder with your team name
title, create a tarball (.tar.bz2) and upload it to the the ftp server
below. Also e-mail Mart van de Sanden for comfirmation. Please make
the subject of your email: Qualification, 3D: TEAMNAME. You will
receive a confirmation. If you did not receive any confirmation in two
(2) days, please contact to Organizing Committee.

If there is any trouble uploading to the server please don't hesitate
to contact the OC, we will arrange for another solution.

Teams will be qualified based on the submitted materials. Also the
general qualification limitations (Pre-Registration-Rule,
One-Third-Rule, and 1/3-rule, 1 team per institute, and
One-Team-Per-Institute-Rule) will be considered.
