   I'm happy to get your mail. To your question,
   
   1) There are two kinds of high-speed train from Shanghai to Hefei.
   The ticket of the fastest train almost costs 196 CNY (32USD) or 203.5 CNY(33USD). The trip will take 180 minutes.
   The other train almost cost 151.5 CNY(25USD) or 156.5 CNY(26USD). The trip will take 215 minutes. 
   You can buy the tickets from the Hongqiao Railway Station with your passport. The nearest airport is Hongqiao Airport. You can walk form Hongqiao Airport to Hongqiao Railway Station in 10 minutes. But most international flight land in Pudong Airport.
   Please take notice of that only Hongqiao Railway Station has the high-speed train to Hefei. You can take the subway line 2 from Pudong Airport to Hongqiao Railway Station, it is cost 7CNY(1.2USD) and takes 100 minutes.
   
   2) I think 25 CNY(4USD) enough.
   
   3) Maybe write something on the flight. I don't think any paper necessary.
   
   4) You can't use US Dollars in any bussinesses in China. You can change USD to CNY in the airport or bank. All Chinese bank can exchange. And the exchange in airport is very expensive. You can use credit card in Shanghai. It is not convenient in Hefei.
   
   5) Voltage 220, frequency 50-60 Hz   shape (see the attachment)
   
   Shanghai is my hometown.  I have many friends in Shanghai.
   Please let me know when you arrive in Shanghai, I can ask my friends to show you the way. Also they can help you to buy the tickets.
