In our team (B-Smart) and also at the last competitions (afaik) carpet was used.
I think carpet is thicker, more robust and easier to floor than felt.
You should try to find green, short carpet. As we do not have any standardized
flooring keep in mind that your robots should be able to drive on different
carpet, too. Especially new carpet usually is much deeper than the one in our
laboratory. For marking the lines we use ordinary tape. It is easy to replace
when broken and does not handicap the robots.
