[robocup-small] Electrical Motor feedback: accelerometers and encoders: necessary?

Hi.

Has anyone made a small size team without encoder feedback or accelerometer
feedback (which allows the on board electronics to do speed correction) and
instead just used the camera itself to observe if the robot was going too
fast or slow and make the correction. Is this system too slow or inaccurate?
