            Final Call for Tutorial and Workshop Proposals



KI 2005 is the  28th edition  of  the German Conference  on Artificial
Intelligence,  which  traditionally  brings    together  academic  and
industrial researchers from all areas of AI.

The technical  programme  of KI 2005 will  comprise  paper  and poster
presentations and  a  variety of  specialised workshops  together with
invited talks from different areas of AI.   As an additional component
of the  KI conference series   tutorials will be  offered.  Calls  for
workshop  and tutorial  proposals are  below.   The call for technical
papers  will be published separately;  the  deadline for submission of
technical paper is April 15, 2005.

KI 2005 is held together with  the 3rd German Conference on Multiagent
System Technologies MATES'05 (http://www.mates2005.de) and takes place
back-to-back  with TABLEAUX 2005 (http://tableaux2005.uni-koblenz.de),
overlapping on September 14 with an invited talk.

CALL FOR WORKSHOP PROPOSALS


GENERAL

Workshops of KI 2005  will be held the  day before the main  technical
program  of  the conference   starts. They  are  intended as  informal
setting where workshop participants will have  the opportunity to meet
and  discuss specific technical topics.  Members  from all segments of
the AI community are invited to submit workshop proposals for review.


HOW TO PROPOSE A WORKSHOP

Workshop proposals must contain the necessary information to judge the
importance, quality and community interest in the proposed topic. Each
workshop must have  one or more designated organizers  and  may have a
program committee as well. Details about the proposals can be found at

CALL FOR TUTORIAL PROPOSALS


KI 2005   will introduce  tutorials  as  a new  ingredient  to the  KI
conference series.  The  tutorials at  KI 2005  will  be  held the day
before the technical  program starts. They  will be free of charge for
participants. We aim at a small number  of high-quality tutorials that
are  suitable  for  a  large  percentage  of  conference participants,
including graduate students   as well as   experienced researchers and
practitioners.


CONTENTS

Tutorials should   give   a comprehensive,  in-depth    perspective on
innovative AI  methods or technologies that  have an obvious potential
for  research and/or application  and  are not covered  by typical  AI
textbooks. Giving an  interesting   and relevant perspective  on   the
historical  development or impact of  AI  may also be suitable. Topics
linking two distinct  AI fields or core  AI to other fields or domains
of research or application are welcome. Do not hesitate to contact the
conference or  tutorial  Chairs  if   you  are  in doubt    about  the
suitability  of a particular topic  for  the purpose. Both full-day (6
hours) and half-day (3 hours) tutorials are of interest.


TECHNICALITIES

KI   2005 tutorials will be  held  on September  11, 2005. They should
preferably  be given in English. The  revenue for tutor(s) consists of
free participation at  the KI 2005  conference. Teaching material will
be   produced   on   demand   and   distributed   by  the   conference

relevant material.


HOW TO PROPOSE A TUTORIAL

Proposals must    contain the necessary    information  to  judge  the
importance, quality and community interest in the proposed tutorial as
well   as  the expertise of   its tutor(s).    Proposals  must include
descriptions of the tutorial  goals, the intended audience, a detailed
outline of  the  contents, and  CVs of  the  tutor(s), including their
expertise and  teaching  experience  in  the  field.   If material  is
available from recent teaching about the proposed topic, proposers are
encouraged to include excerpts of it as an annex of their submission.

Proposal texts  should be  submitted by  e-mail  in PDF format  to the
tutorial Chair.
