Hi,

we have uploaded the GameController 2017 to the Downloads page of the SPL website. It differs only slightly from the version that was released for the RoboCup German Open, but it comes with all the logos of the teams participating. For the mixed team competition, most logos are just placeholders. If mixed teams have designed their own logos, they can send to me.

If starting from the 2016 version, it is necessary to recompile your C++ code with the updated versions of all header files provided with the GameController 2017.

In comparison to 2016 the changes are:

1. The new rules increase the size of a coach message from 80 bytes to 250 bytes. Due to memory alignment requirements, this increase is actually from 81 bytes to 253 bytes. Coach messages can now contain binary data and they are accepted once a second.

2. During the penalty shootout, the robots performing an individual attempt can be selected, while all other robots are substitutes, i.e. penalized. In addition, each attempt only lasts 45 seconds.

3. The GameController now also records the team communication. Thereby, team communication logs of all games should be available after a competition. The TeamCommunicationMonitor will only record logs if no GameController is running on the same machine.

4. The GameStateVisualizer was removed. It is now just a mode of the TeamCommunicationMonitor. With "java -jar TeamCommunicationMonitor.jar --gsv", the TeamCommunicationMonitor is started in game state visualizer mode. In this mode, the 3D field with the visualized team communication is shown together with the logos of the teams playing, the score, the current state, the primary and secondary clocks, and - new in this version - which team has kickoff.

5. The "SPL Drop-in" competition was removed. Instead, there is now the "SPL Mixed Team" tournament with 6 vs. 6 games. Technically, the screen layout of the GameController would now also support 10 vs. 10 games.

Best regards

Thomas
