SCOPE
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Visual perception is a fundamental step for robotic systems. Vision
algorithms
are used by robotic platforms to accomplish tasks such as navigating the
environment and grabbing and manipulating specific objects. However, visual
detection and recognition is often affected by limitations like occlusions
and
viewpoint changes.
"Active vision" refers to the possibility of improving visual sensing by
collecting information from sensors that can be conveniently moved in
space, so
as to acquire 3D data, to better deal with occlusions, and to establish
relationships between the elements present in the environment.
The experience of recent Robocup competitions demonstrates that robots
operating in real world settings will be able to accomplish complex tasks
only
if their ability to carry out semantic perception and mapping is improved.

The aim of this workshop is to bring together researchers in the field of
computer vision and robotics for discussing vision-based applications aimed
at
  * object manipulation;
  * moving objects in order to remove occlusions;
  * recognizing objects and semantically relevant elements (semantic
labeling,
    object recognition);
  * detecting people by means of mobile robots or mixed (robot/fixed
sensors)
    networks to cope with occlusions;
  * exploiting context for object and scene understanding.
