Dear All,

This year again we organize the Robotstadium contest:

http://www.robotstadium.org

Robotstadium is an on-line programming contest based on the rules of the
RoboCup Standard Platform League. The Robotstadium contest is organized by
Cyberbotics <http://www.cyberbotics.com>; it is free and open to everyone.
The contest has just started and it can be joined at any time.

Robotstadium uses realistic simulation of the Nao robot and of the SPL
soccer field. Each competitor must program a team of Nao robots using Java,
C/C++, or Python. Then the teams compete in on-line matches that take place
on the Robotstadium server. The finals will be held on-line from June 21 to
June 25 (during the RoboCup 2010). The winning team will receive a Webots
PRO software package.

A round of matches is played every week day (Mon-Fri) starting at 3:00 pm
CEST (Central European Summer Time). The match movies can be watched on-line
or downloaded from the Robotstadium website. If you want to participate, you
can download Webots
6.2.2<http://www.cyberbotics.com/products/webots/download.html>and
start programming!

Robotstadium uses a model of Aldebaran's NaoV3 "RoboCup" robot. This
simulation allows you to control the robot's motors, cameras, FSRs, foot
bumpers, inertial unit, ultrasound sensors, LEDs, etc. and provides a
realistic physics simulation (mass centers, motor torques, etc.).

For those who participated to Robotstadium 2009, there are only few changes
in Robotstadium 2010. Webots Java, Python, C and C++ APIs are mainly
unchanged. The most important changes concerns the graphics rendering of the
*robotstadium.wbt* world and of the *NaoV3R.proto*, they are now more
textured and the lighting and materials have been improved. As a
consequence, the simulated camera images appear more realistic and therefore
the image detection algorithms may need to be adapted for Robotstadium 2010.

The contest has now started with the SPL 2009 rules, in a few weeks it will
be switched to the 2010 rules (color waist band, modified goals and penalty
box width).

Even without participating to Robotstadium, you are welcome to use the
latest Webots and the Nao simulation in your projects. The demo version of
Webots will let you use and modify the controller programs associated with
the distributed Nao worlds. So you are welcome to use these worlds for
training your algorithms for the RoboCup or for any other purpose.

I hope to see you soon on Robotstadium!
Best regards,

Yvan
