Intelligent agents exploring complex and dynamic physical and 
information rich landscapes require sophisticated capabilities for 
perception, reasoning and planning. The abilities to reason 
nonmonotonically, to reason about actions, and to change one's beliefs, 
have been identified as fundamental high-level cognitive functions. 
Underlying these functions is the need to manage inconsistent, 
uncertain, incomplete and changing information.
