Dear HL Teams,

This year a record high number of applications to the Humanoid League
have been received.

43 applications arrived within the deadline of January 28.
4 belated applications for Teen- and AdultSize arrived shortly after
the deadline and accepted by the members of the technical committee (TC).
All further applications after the deadline had to be rejected by the TC.

KidSize Qualification
---------------------
The situation was especially difficult for Humanoid KidSize where
33 teams applied for only 24 spaces.

For each application the qualification material was reviewed
by several members of the technical committee and rated according
to the criteria announced in the call for participation,
cf. http://www.tzi.de/humanoid/bin/view/Website/Call2011

As a result of this first round of reviews it was decided
to qualify 21 teams which clearly satisfied all criteria best.

The qualification material of the remaining 12 teams was then
reviewed a second time by all TC members and thoroughly discussed.
Finally, a ranking was made and the remaining 3 spaces
for KidSize as well as 3 additional spaces for runner-up teams
were filled in the order of the ranking.

Runner-up teams are qualified for participation in the technical
challenges. Also in case one or several of the 24 fully qualified
teams withdraw later on, they will then replace them in the 3-vs-3 soccer
competition (as it has been the case in 2008 and 2009).

TeenSize Qualification
----------------------
The TC members decided to qualify all 5 applications.

In addition, an exception was given to the new team FUmanoids Teen
which applied with a robot of height less than the minimum TeenSize.
All TeenSize teams which had applied within the deadline of the CFP
have also agreed to this exception.

AdultSize Qualification
-----------------------
The TC members decided to qualify all 9 applications.

In addition, an exception is given to team Tsinghua Hephaestus
which applied with a robot only slightly smaller than the minimum
AdultSize.

In general, all teams should be aware that the feasibility
of a robot according to the rules will, as always, be
inspected onsite during the days of set up for the competition.

List of Qualified Teams
-----------------------
The list and application material of all qualified teams
is online available at
 	http://www.tzi.de/humanoid/bin/view/Website/Teams2011

Team Description Papers
-----------------------
The team description papers (TDPs) of all teams will be included
in the preproceedings DVD of RoboCup 2011 Symposium
if (and only if) it is in LNCS standard and of 8 pages maximum,
see http://www.tzi.de/humanoid/bin/view/Website/Call2011,
and the comments from the review by the TC members are considered
(in case there are any, they will be forwarded to the team leaders
  by next week).

The deadline for submission of all TDPs
which need to be updated is *** April 30 ***.

We are looking forward to an exiting RoboCup 2011 in Istanbul!

With best regards,
Humanoid League Technical Committee
(Carlos, Jacky, Luis, Oskar, Pasan, Sven, Tang)
