The 8th Conference on Autonomous Robot Systems and
Competitions is the 2008 edition of the scientific meeting
of the Portuguese Robotics Open - ROBÓTICA'2008
(http://robotica.ua.pt/robotica2008/index-en.htm),
and will take place at the University of Aveiro, Portugal,
on April 2nd, 2008. This conference aims to disseminate
scientific contributions in areas of relevance to
Autonomous Robotics. Its scope encompasses, but
is not restricted to the fields of Artificial 
Intelligence,
Robotics and Education.

Submission
===========

Authors are kindly invited to submit electronically
their contributions by February 14, 2008. Each 
contribution
consists of a full-length paper with a possibly attached
video. Detailed instructions on the electronic
submission process and formats can be found at
the conference website:

Submissions will be peer reviewed by the International
Program Committee and selected on the basis of quality and
relevance to the topics of the conference.


Important Dates
=============

February 14, 2008 - Deadline for paper submission 
(extended)
March 7, 2008 - Notification of paper acceptance
March 15, 2008 - Deadline for submission of paper final 
versions
April 02, 2008 - Conference (first day of ROBOTICA'2008)


Publication and Prizes
================

All accepted contributions, either presented orally
or in the poster session, will be published in the
conference proceedings (DVD and book). Videos
included in an accepted contribution will also be
published in the conference DVD. Authors of the 7-9
selected best papers will be invited to submit extended
versions in a follow-up special issue of the Robótica
journal. The final selection will be announced during
the conference and in the conference web site.

APPIA (the Portuguese Artificial Intelligence Associaion)
is sponsoring prizes for the best papers describing
applications of AI in Robotics.
