Hi there,
I've been seeking some documents to get started and find something useful.
As to "More diverse build slaves(OS X and Windows)", I began to read the wiki on jenkins-ci.org and find this link
https://wiki.jenkins-ci.org/display/JENKINS/Distributed+builds
kinds of fits our situation.
As to "Packaging in Debian (and Ubuntu)", I find a very good starting point at
http://www.debian.org/doc/manuals/maint-guide/
Looking forward to your feedback and further discussion:-)
Regards,
Lihang

主题: GSoC 2013 - Interested in packaging in Debian and help with the build slaves
Hi All,
I'm been watching the mailing list for a while and after viewing the idea lists about GSoC 2013, I came to do some evaluation and some ideas definitely drew my interest.
First, let me give a brief introduction about myself. I'm a student from Beijing, China, now is a first-year graduate majoring in Computer Science. I had the course about machine learning last semester but can't say I'm experienced ( anyway, I'm been knowing ML for only half a year and a totally newbie), so approaches about algorithms are not on my top list. I'm familiar with Open Source Community, using Linux and experienced in C/C++, familiar with Matlab and Java and learning Python.
Among the ideas, I first want to do help with "More diverse build slaves(OS X and Windows)", as I'm familiar with Linux(I thought OS X is kind of Unix, or one may say Linux too, although one can play OS X easily if he is Linux user) and Windows and have the experience about setting up http servers, deploying Testopia( a test system owned by Mozilla), I think it's not a big deal. However, I need some time to get familiar with Jenkins(reading its documentation first:-)). Question is, one will get ssh access or remote desktop access to do the integration job?
The first Linux I use is Ubuntu 9.04, so I'm also intersted in "Packaging in Debian (and Ubuntu)", and I would like to combine this task with "integrate Jenkins" if possible.

Looking forward to your feedback and suggestions:-)
