<p>Yeah, a golden model approach may be the right thing here. How long does it take to train the sparse autoencoder on the data from display_network.m, and how big is that data? I suppose it could be possible to use a smaller dataset (perhaps something already in <code>src/mlpack/tests/data/</code>). Ideally we'd want the dataset to be as small as possible (a few kb if possible, gzipped is fine) and the test should take no longer than a handful of seconds on a commodity machine.</p>
