<p>I'm glad that you got this figured out.  I wasn't aware that clang-compiled Boost would not work with g++, but, now I know, so I can point other people to this bug in the future.  Thanks!</p>

<p>Yeah, this is todo; I'm in the process (in rcurtin/mlpack under the 'serialize' fork) of migrating to boost::serialization, which also works with boost::mpi and some other eventual things that are planned.  Then libxml2 can finally go away...</p>
