If you are able to upgrade your OS, that would be the easiest way, if not you could use the armadillo version from ``ppa:comp-phys/stable``:

```
sudo apt-add-repository -y ppa:comp-phys/stable
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install libarmadillo-dev
```
