Okay, I'm not able to tell anything from that output.  Sorry to ask for so much... can I also get the output when you try to compile mlpack with the `VERBOSE=1` flag set?  i.e. `VERBOSE=1 make` (it'll be a lot of output, but it'll show me exactly what the linker is linking against, which may provide a clue).
