Comment:

 Put it in /Users/march/local/lib and not /Users/march/local/ and I suspect
 the issue will re-arise.  Also if you can give 'VERBOSE=1 make
 mlpack_test' output that would also be helpful (so I can see what the
 actual options that are being given to the compiler are).  Again, this is
 not particularly high priority if you are busy.
