Are you a CS or CM major? Do you want to impact the entering freshman class of 2010? Join the 2010 College of Computing Mentor Program! Program Description: The 2010 Mentor Program provides you with the opportunity to have an impact on the 2010 Freshman Class, as well as future prospective students. The program provides you with the knowledge, skills and leadership to lead a group of 6-10 entering freshman students, give information sessions to prospective students and their families, host middle and high school students during field trips and overnight visits and TA CS 1100. The program runs from January 2010-December 2010. Requirements: Students interested in being a mentor must meet the requirements below. If you meet these requirements, you must fill out and return the application to the folder outside College of Computing room 351 by 3pm Friday, January 22nd and participate in an interview/selection process during the week of January 25th-29th. * Have completed 30 or more hours * Participate January 2010-December 2010 * Have a GPA of 2.5 or higher * Attend weekly meetings/training during the Spring 2010 semester on Tuesdays from 6-7:30pm (dinner will be provided) * Be available for weekly meetings/training during the Fall 2010 semester ** * Be available during the CS 1100 scheduled class time for TA'ing** * Must attend STARS Leadership Conference in Orlando, FL August 7th-12th Compensation: Mentors will be compensated during each semester on a bi-weekly pay schedule upon completion of a time sheet and mentor log. During the Spring 2010 and Fall 2010 semesters, students will receive a total of $500 each semester. During the Summer 2010 semester, students will receive a total of $250. Students will also receive professional and leadership development. ** Dates and times will be decided during Spring training. Digital copies of the application are attached to this email.
