Cc: Heard, April; Clifford, Annette; Kozlov,Rita Subject: Sandy Springs Charter School STEM event Hello, My name is Jordan Garth and I am one of the GTNeuro student coordinators working with the Sandy Springs Education Force and GTRI to plan a Health Sciences-themed STEM event at Sandy Springs High School on February 6th. Our goal is to show the high and middle school students how the concepts they are learning in the classroom are being used in the real world and to get them excited about the breadth and diversity of careers in Health Sciences and Technology. The day-long event will include interactive exhibitions and posters from local businesses, universities, and college students, and Dr. Tommy Thomas of Emory University will deliver a keynote address. We have already received positive responses from Kimberly Clark, Lockheed Martin, Emory, Morehouse School of Medicine, and others. We still have a few spaces left for student presenters and are in need of student volunteers to help with setup/breakdown and managing traffic flow. We would be very interested in including posters and demonstrations that incorporate computing in an interesting way to students. If you could forward the below message to the students who presented work at that event, and any other students you feel may be interested, we would greatly appreciate it. Also let us know if you have any interesting videos or mobile apps! If you would like to set up a time to meet to discuss this, please let me know your availability, and I would love to meet with you. Please visit http://stem.gtneuro.net/ to learn more and sign up!
