FYI- Deadline Approaching for Applications
Are you planning to submit NASA GSRP applications?
GSRP general requirements
NASA GSRP applications are due February 1, 2009. All new and
renewal applications must follow the on-line application process at http://fellowships.hq.nasa.gov/gsrp/nav/.
This is also the site for the online application. When the application
has been submitted, the student will need to print out a complete copy for
OSP. No later than the morning of January 26th, bring to OSP
the proposal routing form, all pages of the printed application (including the
cover page to be signed), the faculty advisor’s letter of recommendation, and
official transcripts. OSP will mail the signature form, letter, and
transcripts to the required NASA address, or the student or department may send
it. We will need a department Federal Express charge number if OSP
is to submit the information.
Please let me know in advance of anyone planning to submit a
proposal, and let me know if you have any questions after going over
the instructions. Because Feb. 1 is the deadline for a lot of other
programs, please have the proposals ready to submit as early as possible,
preferably no later than January 23rd.
Following is additional information that will be needed when completing
the online application form.
GSRP Budget
The fellowships provide $21,000 stipend, $6,000 student allowance for
program related travel and other expenses, and $3,000 university
allowance for a total of $30,000. Georgia Tech requires that the students
be hired as GRAs and paid through the payroll system. Also, GT requires
that tuition remission (currently $624 per month) be charged to the grant in
proportion to the GRA salary that is charged to the grant. The $3,000
university allowance should be used for tuition remission. A partial
waiver for the tuition remission amount exceeding $3,000 has been approved.
The departments will need to determine for departmental purposes how
salary in excess of $21,000 and other expenses that exceed the grant allowance
will be covered. Students accepting awards may not receive concurrently
other Federal
funding. Students must be
