Are you a CS or CM major? Do you want to impact the entering freshman class of 2010? Join the 2010 College of Computing Mentor Program! Program Description: The 2010 Mentor Program provides you with the opportunity to have an impact on the 2010 Freshman Class, as well as future prospective students. The program provides you with the knowledge, skills and leadership to lead a group of 6-10 entering freshman students, give information sessions to prospective students and their families, host middle and high school students during field trips and overnight visits and TA CS 1100. The program runs from January 2010-December 2010. Requirements: Students interested in being a mentor must meet the requirements below. If you meet these requirements, you must fill out and return the application to the folder outside College of Computing room 351 by 3pm Friday, January 22nd and participate in an interview/selection process during the week of January 25th-29th. * Have completed 30 or more hours * Participate January 2010-December 2010 * Have a GPA of 2.5 or higher * Attend weekly meetings/training during the Spring 2010 semester on Tuesdays from 6-7:30pm (dinner will be provided) * Be available for weekly meetings/training during the Fall 2010 semester ** * Be available during the CS 1100 scheduled class time for TA'ing** * Must attend STARS Leadership Conference in Orlando, FL August 7th-12th Compensation: Mentors will be compensated during each semester on a bi-weekly pay schedule upon completion of a time sheet and mentor log. During the Spring 2010 and Fall 2010 semesters, students will receive a total of $500 each semester. During the Summer 2010 semester, students will receive a total of $250. Students will also receive professional and leadership development. ** Dates and times will be decided during Spring training. Digital copies of the application are attached to this email. Hey Ladies! Thank you to everyone who responded to the survey! Our new official UWAB meeting time will be Thursdays at 5:00PM ~ 6:00PM in the "fish bowl" (Kristin's (our faculty advisor) new lab). It's the glass room in the CoC Commons. For those of you who don't know where that is, I will have signs up. I hope to see all of you this Thursday, January 21! Snacks will be provided. The Women@CC are back and stronger than ever, kicking off the 2010 Spring semester with our first members at large meeting. You're invited!! The Women@CC is all about "Welcoming, Supporting, and Celebrating Women in Computing at Georgia Tech!" We are a unique breed of women coming together to talk about our many professional opportunities, academic endeavors and of course have fun! Hey girls! I hope you're excited for our end of year celebration this coming Tuesday(11/24)! Unfortunately, there were a lot of problems with the Evite and it has come to my attention that quite a few of you have gotten Ugochi as your recipient (including people who didn't RSVP and even Ugochi herself! lol). Please email me by midnight tomorrow (Friday) the name of your recipient so that I can be sure no one is left out. Even if it's me, go ahead and tell me so we can sort this problem out. Good morning everyone, I'm sorry for so many emails, but there's been a problem with the Evite. It no longer lets you RSVP for Secret Santa etc, so here's what we're going to do. - If you'd like to participate in the Secret Santa gift exchange, please email me your name and some of your likes and dislikes so someone else may have an idea of what to get you :). I will email you the name of the person who you'll be the secret santa for. Remember, it's a secret, so don't let your recipient know it's you! They will guess who you are after opening your gift. - If you've already received an email from Evite giving you a recipient's name, please let me know (but do not tell me who the recipient is! One of you has me :P). Still do send me a list of your likes and dislikes though :). - If you'd like to bring food for the pot-luck, please email me letting me know what you're bringing. Hey girls! This year's End of Semester Winter Party will a pot-luck meal with a Secret Santa gift exchange! We will be having the gift exchange at 7:00p in case someone is running late. To be eligible to play, please check the Evite box indicating that you would like to participate on the evite. A week before the party, you'll recieve an email indicating who you'll bring a gift for (don't tell them that you're their person!). The projected cost for each gift is around $10. The event will be in the activity lounge of the GT Center Street Apartments on Wednesday, November 24 at 6:00p - 8:00p.
