Hey girls! Thanks to everyone who came to the meeting tonight! The meeting minutes can be found here: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1k4-8pIy-YCNBZ1KvtQQI5omxsxfNexbJDNyZpXn… Next week, February 2nd, we are going to have officer elections. The four positions are: *Secretary -Take meeting minutes -Send out emails *Treasurer -Take care of receipts and reimbursement forms -Maintain the sign-in sheet -Make sure club spending is reasonable *Webmaster -Maintain Facebook group and Facebook events -Update the Women@CC website with up-to-date information and pictures -Note: This job can have co-webmasters if desired *Reporter -Collaborate with various external publications, such as the Compiler, about the club -Take pictures at events If you are interested in running, please e-mail me or Kaitlin to let us know, and prepare a 1-minute speech. Once elections are over we are going to discuss the different ways to find internships, jobs, and co-ops. This will be a precursor to the next week's topic: resumes. On February 9th, W@CC will hold a resume workshop. Be sure to bring a copy of your resume to that meeting so it can be looked over. If you don't have a resume yet, jot down your GPA, past jobs, extracurriculars, achievements, known programming languages, and other skills. Any upperclassmen or alumni who want to help out are invited to attend. Hi girls! I noticed several of you have RSVP'd for the Aspiration Awards. If you are bringing guests (which is great!), please message me their name and info. We are trying to compile a list of all GT and corporate reps, as well as any other VIPs. Just because I know many of the guys in the orgs room participate in all Women@CC events, I'm going to throw this out there...Due to the nature of the event, it is not appropriate to bring all the guys from the orgs room, so please respect that. This is a very high level and important event. We do not want any distractions taken away from these award winners or the importance of this event. Thanks! On behalf of the National Center for Women and Information Technology and the College of Computing's Office of Outreach, Enrollment, and Community, I would like to invite you to participate in the 2011-2012 Georgia NCWIT Award for Aspirations in Computing event. The event will take place on Friday, February 10th from 4:30pm-7:00pm at the Academy of Medicine in Atlanta, GA (http://www.academy.gatech.edu/Pages/default.aspx) We are very excited about this year's event because we have the opportunity to recognize many accomplished and inspiring students. The NCWIT Award for Aspirations in Computing honors young women at the high-school level for their computing-related achievements and interests. Awardees are selected for their computing and IT aptitude, leadership ability, academic history, and plans for post-secondary education. The NCWIT Award for Aspirations in Computing offers both a national and local "affiliate" competitions to generate support and visibility for women's participation in communities nationwide. [UWAB] Become a Mentor or Tutor for K-12 Students

Georgia Tech's Center for Education Integrating Science, Mathematics, and Computing (CEISMC) is currently accepting applications for its tutoring and mentoring programs. College students are needed to tutor and mentor elementary though high school students in the Atlanta & Gwinnett County Public School System. The programs offer a flexible schedule, paid training and travel and great pay (starting at $11/ hr). You will find a full description of the programs as well as an application and instructions on how to apply. Applications are now being accepted. [UWAB] Women@CC First Meeting Postponed

Hi girls! Thanks to everyone who came to the Microsoft-sponsored dinner at Figo tonight. I hope everyone had a great time! Women@CC's first meeting of the semester is postponed, so that those who wish to attend Microsoft's Big App on Campus Hack-a-thon can go to the info-session this Thursday from 6-8pm in Klaus 2443. If you are planning on attending the Hack-a-thon, you will need to go to the info-session to set up your computer. W@CC's regular meetings will instead start next Thursday, January 26th from 6-7pm. We will start off the semester with a mini-spa night (part two!) and an explanation of what to expect for the rest of the semester. Hey girls, As you all know, Microsoft is sponsoring a dinner for us tomorrow night at Figo. They also wanted to let us know about three other exciting on-campus events they will be having this week. On Wednesday, January 18th, Microsoft will have a booth at the ECE Career Fair. Between 9am and 4pm, stop by Klaus atrium to chat with the reps, drop of a resume, and pick up some swag. The other big event (in two parts) is called * Big App On Campus* . It is a brand new nationwide competition . You’ll not only get the opportunity to earn recognition for building the next big phone app, but you’ll also get the chance to win some amazing prizes including a trip to SXSW and $15,000! Be sure to Register at here if you want to attend. [UWAB] Board Game Night Tomorrow!

Hi guys! First, thanks to all of the girls that came out to our event at Yogli Mogli last night! It was really fun seeing and talking to everybody over a delicious bowl of frozen yogurt! I would just like to remind everybody that W@CC's Board Game Night is tomorrow. We are going to have some board games, and probably a deck or two of cards. We welcome you to bring your own board games and any friends who might want to come. So come to have fun, eat some pizza, and socialize with everybody. Also, the regular meeting time will be Thursdays from 6:00-7:00 pm. Our first meeting will be next Thursday, January 19 , and we will send out another e-mail with the determined location for meetings beforehand. [UWAB] Opportunity to Mentor High School Robotics Teams

Hi Everyone! I'm sending this email out because many of you have shown interest in mentoring and providing outreach to local high school students. On Saturday, January 7th the FIRST Robotics Competition kicked off. Students have 6 weeks to build, program, and test their robots for the competition. There are several local high schools that are looking for college students to mentor their teams and provide guidance and knowledge. Some of the schools are participating for the first time ever, while others have been at this for a while. The schools who have asked for mentors are below.
